Rumor of further Petrol Price increase
Yesterday many friends and colleagues told me that they had heard that petrol prices would increase further following the 31% increase last week. The story wa that the price would increase from the current VND19,000 to a new record of VND25,000. In the afternoon hundreds of people queued at the petrol station near Tan Son Nhat airport to fill up their tanks. My bike was empty but I didn’t have the patience to wait in such a lengthy queue. In the evening there was still a large queue.
This morning I went to the petrol station. The price was still the same as the previous days. Was it just a rumor?
I think it was indeed a hoax. Huge numbers of people at the petrol stations yesterday but today the same prices. I hope indeed that it doesn’t go up any further.
