Terry Fox run 2007 in HCMC
Last Sunday was again the day of annual Terry Fox run in Saigon. Terry Fox was a Canadian who died of cancer in 1981. When he was 18 years old his right leg was amputated due to bone cancer. He wanted to create awareness of the need for cancer research which he did via the “Marathon of Hope”. Terry run 5,373 km in 143 days with one leg amputated.
The Terry Fox Run is run around the world every year to raise money for cancer research. It is non-competitive- no winners or awards, just people joining to raise money for cancer research. In Saigon runners, walkers, bicyclists and handicapped participants joined the run in the early Sunday morning. As usual it was a warm day and IMHO there was not sufficient water supply during the run. About 6500 people joined the run in Saigon which is quite a record.
Put it in your agenda and watch out for the 2008 Terry Fox run!
